Date: 3.8.2004 Author: Matt Shimmer Magazine: Indieville Hooray to the world, it's another Graves Brothers Deluxe release!  Just as I was pleased with their last album, I am really digging this romp of an EP.  It's pure energetic, exciting rock, packed with influences from all across the map -  from metal to latin, to country to plain old indie rock. Though they have definitely changed their sound, the Brothers have retained lots of ideas from their past disc.  "The Powers That Be", for example, is this disc's "Electricity" (though less memorably melodic), and "Right as Rain" is reminiscent of their previous album's more energetic moments.  Meanwhile, "Mu?íequita Negra" (a cover of the song by Jose Alfredo Jiminez) is metal-infused latin music, done with skill and an eye for melody. By the finale, a gradually building, darkly brooding number entitled "Heart of Darkness," you'll be in pure euphoria.  This EP is meant to be dug - so dig it. 85% Matt Shimmer [Vitals: 6 tracks, distributed by the label, released 2003]
